Standing Still

By Tyler

Standing still and looking down
The cruel, dim walls close in all around
Darkness reigns and I’m afraid to move
My fears surround me, pouring in from above

I held you tight, scared you’d leave
Well now you’re gone and I can’t believe
How long you lied right to my face
Said how you would never quit the race

You gave in and I’m here all alone
Standing still and cold as a stone
I’ve turned hollow because of you
And I can’t turn back to the life I once knew

You still lie to me in my dreams
I try to mask your voice under my screams
The voice still claws its way through my mind
Poisoning me with more of your lies

Standing still and looking down
The cruel, dim walls close in all around
I’ve chosen the last door that I can see
It leads to death’s doorway, where I can be free.
