A Rushed Life

By Holly

A woman pregnant with her first
sits in a waiting room
waiting for her name to be called

the appointment is through
she wobbles to the elevator
then heads to the car

she gets into the car
fastens her seat belt
and heads off home

the speed limit is 45
here on highway 217

a winding mountain
is coming close by

there is a truck coming her way
then theres the car
the tries to pass the truck
but instead he collides

the spin of the car
makes it hit hers
and off the road it tumbles

because of a rushed life
two lives are lost
two lives that one misses

the one grieves
the one cries
for no one, but no one
can bring back those lives
