9 to 2 may be good for you but for me it just won't do.
7 to 9 is not enough time, 10 to 4; sorry I need so much more.
This will not do I need you.
You must keep her close don't be the fool, don't let go.
You say you love her- but a friendship just won't do.
I could never call on you.
You say you are here for me and you'll do anything
But when I need you late at midnight
When things feel wrong and nothing is right,
You won't be there... when I need you the most
You will be embracing her and her love
These are the things I think about.
So, take her hand- I can't be your friend and you can't be my man.
Yes, you were there when I was hurting,
Yes, you were there to stop me from crying,
Yes, you were there to stop the love in my heart from dying.
But when I need you between the hours of 10 and four
You won't come to me like other times before.
You only see me when you are feeling sad or blue
But what good are you?
I don't need a buddy, not another pal, don't care for a friend.
The truth is... you won't be there when I need you most.
I cried- you did not hear
I looked for you- you were not there
I reach out- you did not reach back
I waited for you but you did not come
...when I needed you most.
