This Gift

By Poe's Rose

I could be falling to pieces,
Like a smashed jar of clay,
But when I see your face,
My brokenness can't stay.
I forget about a heart,
That's been pushed away and slashed,
When I am by your side,
It's like I have no past.

My pain could be outside,
Or in the deepest chasms of my soul,
Yet, only one touch from you,
I'm healed, I'm joyful, I'm gold.
Others can criticize and jest,
Their approval- I used to crave,
Then I found the one that makes me happy,
To them, no attention do I pay.

I want to kiss you in the moonlight,
Be the girl you hold,
Turn to you in silence,
And have everything I want to tell, told.
I want to hold your hand in the center,
Of life's deadly tornado of greed,
I've never cried, still you give all this,
Tender love really does start... when received.
