My Dear Old Friend

By Josh from Jersey

My dear old friend,
How long has it really been
Since our lives have parted ways,
Flowing with the tides,
Always on separate waves?

I've thought of you,
Now and again.
So, where have you been,
My dear old friend?

There are lots of things
I never said,
But would love the chance-
Should it come again,

Because you're on my mind,
And in my head.
So, where have you been,
My dear old friend?

I tried to call,
I tried to write,
But all in all,
You're out of sight.

So, here I sit,
Alone tonight,
I found your poem-
now, should I write?

Until we speak,
Once again
I'll wonder how you are,
My dear old friend.

As for me,
On beaches of white sand I'll wait,
Reminiscing of air hockey,
Like on our first date.

There are lots of things,
I never said,
But would love the chance,
Should it come again.
So, tell me now
How have you been?
Anna, my dear old friend
