Begging for a chance to come true

I saw a star streaking so very bright
Carrying a wish on its last flight
Begging to be spoken by a heart that believes
Pleading for a chance to be conceived

I saw a star blazing in the dark
Carrying a wish for the pure of heart
Begging to be told before it is too late
Pleading before its ultimate fate

I saw a star falling to its doom
Carrying a wish destined to die soon
Begging for a prayer before it dies
Pleading as it plummeted before my eyes

I saw a star falling and I saw it die
Carrying a wish I know was a lie
Begging... I felt sad to see it burn in flight
Pleading... I stopped believing in wishes... tonight
