Oh God, Another Year

last year broke my heart
as george w. got reelected
over 100,000 have died of aids
and more keep getting infected

this year was even worse
as disasters hit every day
killing so many people
making war seem like a play

I almost got a job
but didn't like mexico
seems the country is for sale
to the highest bidder we go

took a gun away from a kid
who was barely ten years old
"I got it from my daddy"
is the story that he told

the 12 year old girl
who lives across the street
is pregnant to a man
who is a known dead beat

there's crack on every corner
sold by the vial
no sense in arresting them
they're out without a trial

the kids don't go to school
and the parents could care less
what ever happened to dreams
in the pursuit of happiness

everyone's living for the moment
not worrying about tomorrow
and as another year approaches
I shake my head in sorrow.........

Make a difference, instead of making a resolution, make a committment to caring for mankind......Peace
