Crossroads

By Bob Shank

Crossroads

The sun could be shining
but inside it was cold
lips set to pining
all the lies to be told

so many different places
crooked roads I've traveled
amid my own strange faces
heart remained graveled

never knowing reality
nor really caring
happy was the beast in me
mischievous and daring

stumbling upon a mirror
seeing beyond a glance
visions that became clearer
of life's second chance

the decision now mine
to grasp life by the hand
to reach out in kind
carry myself like a man

few get a second chance
to find who they really are
some find it in romance
others upon a star

dreams become reality
only if we choose to dare
to look deep inside thee
accepting what is there

so live life to the fullest
for today may be your last
these are the lessons I've learned
from crossroads of the past.....

Bob Shank Mar. 22nd'05
never forget the past,
but let it be your personal
guide to a better future....
