All My Yesterdays

By Ray Davidson

If I could take my yesterdays and rewind them once again,
Would I make them all be different and take away their sin?

Correct them to be perfect and make not one mistake?
And rid them of their problems and burdens I would take?

I would never know an error and be always in the right,
No sorrows could creep in to crowd my dreams at night.

To never have cried just once or even shed a tear,
Always brave without one doubt or know so much as fear.

If I could do these things and make amends to you,
Would my tomorrows now be fixed and would they rise anew?

Or would I find my yesterdays now someone I had been,
Untaught by lessons of my life, unshared with other men.

I would never feel deep sorrows or hatred for my brother,
No pain in me to feel just once the rejection by another.

No chance to cheat a man and see why it's so wrong,
How it chips away one's life a bit, the beauty of his song.

These things now teach me that my life is lived the best,
By taking wrongs that I have done and put them to the test.

I think it best to leave those pasts exactly where they lay,
Those lessons learned and not forgot for living my new day.

To mold myself and learn from them to do all that I can,
That all my future tomorrows will bring a better man.
