The world watches.
Not a shocking video of a plane and a tower
or a blurry recording of a bearded man talking about a holy war.
The eyes of the world are fixed on a chimney
above an ancient building.
No-one knows how long we will watch,
five days is the norm but three years is possible.
Black is bad, white is good.
The end of one era is over,
the smoke will signal the beginning of a new one.
