A Falling Mountain

By Bob Shank

A Falling Mountain

I was a mountain
a pillar of strength
my tresses held many a burden
yet I remained tall and proud
the footprints of life
have worn many a path
they seemed weightless
winds of speech nor salty tears
could deteriorate my foundation
but I am eroding nonetheless
age hath torn me asunder
withered my exterior
crept into my core
I have shrunk to a molehill
and soon shall be a memory
dust in the wind
blown into oblivion
free at last.......

Bob Shank Apr. 26th, 2005
When we were young we were
invincible, as we grow older,
we realize that nothing is
invincible, not even mountains....peace
