The Pressure

By Crystal Waters

One fateful day,
In the middle of summer,
A girl of eight,
Fell beneath the pressure.

For smaller she was,
And younger too,
They treated her,
Like an animal in the zoo.

Her friend, she was one of them,
But she was still nice,
Though when she said “that’s enough,
It felt as cold as ice.

One day the little girl,
She went to the camp,
She had had enough,
She would ascend the ramp.

The elder girls would change,
She had few plans.
She knew it would work,
And they’d all be her fans.

At the pool was her chance,
Only one thing she missed,
She made a “boy-friend,
Under water they kissed.

She messed up on only one thing,
She was told to kiss, not just below, but ABOVE water,
He said why not, “it’s only a kiss,
But she swam away, farther and farther.

Sad she was,
And full of hate,
She has had no boyfriend,
Up to this date.

And as far as she cares,
She won’t for a while,
She thinks it’s dumb,
She put it in her AIM profile.

It is immature and stupid,
That’s what she thinks,
Kissing is stupid,
As are many things.
