It's not supposed to be a funny poem, I put it in here because I was hoping to get a lot of feed back but, I wrote this poem because I am sick of hearing people say I need to lose weight, I'm fat, my face is ugly, blah blah etc. Or when they receive their Victoria's Secret catalog in the mail they say, I wish I had her body, or I wish I was as skinny as her I am so sick of it. Its not just being payed attention by adults pre-teens and children are considering these as well. And it makes me sick, its actually quite sad. I believe that the media does have a major influence and impact on todays society, and quite frankly it needs to be put to a stop! Please consider and please respond and tell me how you feel, I would appreciate it--
What has society lead to
what has society become
Subjecting our community
to such inhumanity
what are our children learning from.
Children are not leading
they are doing but one thing
what the media forces
our children are following
They look and act like everyone else
everyone is the same
and hearing about all of this
why not give everyone the same name.
But this is life, and our community
its what the television does portray
listening to what some screen says
than what their hearts do have to say.
When you look at an innocent child
and when you see what they have become
You should realize that its society
that they have learned from
When someone wants to be different
they are teased and left alone
how can anyone be different
if this is what society has shown
A community is an arrangement
of many different kinds
and in this big community
its the cool ones that are blind.
If our constitution states we're equal
and equal means the same
then society shouldn't be equal
and its the media to blame
How can you place something so grim
into the hands of an innocent child
Knowing that it could possibly cause damage
and drive the innocent so wild
think if there were less pressured media
the world might be a better place
From appearance to size to hair to eyes
and even face to race.
