Twin

By Ariel Cash

This is a tribute poem to my sister, Tai.
Before the clock of age was started
Before the first breath of air was taken
Before mother's embrace was felt.
We were together.
First steps First words.
Together. Alone I have never been
The weight of life
Shared between shoulders
Hers and mine.
Confided every struggle and woe
Deepest secrets
Whispered among us.
Longings of dreams Of fears.
She knows me.
She knows my nightmares
My hopes.
As I know her.
Together we are strong
No menacing clouds
To rain on us.
Every day I age
Every lesson I learn
Every step I stumble
She is there To catch me.
Together I am strong
Together I can hold life's weight.
To say goodbye.
A year Forever.
To say goodbye.
To all that I love
To the other half.
To my twin.
I cannot.
