Orphan

By Brandon Delaney

Lying in bed
the child's mind wanders
Always asking questions
of his mother and father
Never have heard
the words he's wanted to hear
Nothing to keep him warm
he shivers in fear
Lacking all propinquity
and never any intimacy
Eager to be loved
Eager to be hugged
he cries in desire
to be someone's son
