Her Shadow , My Shadow

By Amy R. Cook

My Brave Face
I put it on everyday
I don't like being like her
I don't like looking like her
5 times everyday I'm mistaken for her
Are they my friends? Or hers? Maybe his.
Am I a different person?
Or am I a shadow? The one that you see just before the sun sets
The one that you pay no attention to because its under your foot
I want to be the flower like her that dances at party's.
But I'm the plain wallflower
My brave face fools my friends
but when I want to fool my shadow I can't
The mirror in the sidewalk is all knowing
to smart to be fooled by my mask
Everyone tells me I'm different
Maybe someday I'll Believe them
But the 3rd string never gets any praise
I'm my sisters shadow
Its a wonder they even took pictures of me
because what I try to accomplish has already been done.
