Good Night My Angel

By John Muldoon

Oh sweet child,
I dear not wake you from your sleep.
I shall sit here still,
like the waters that reflect
that of the bluest skies and wonder why I am the be-holder of such splendor.
In all of heaven I know not one as beautiful as you. And In all of earth such beauty seems not possible.
So, I shall sit here in the stillness of the night.
Remembering all that I see, so that this moment will live with me always.
Breath I will not, blink I shall not, move I cannot.
For I am taking you into my soul,
the deepest part of the heart. Fear not, for there is only love here! Fear not,
for no one can harm you! Fear not, for there are no more tears, only joy is found here.
Oh my beautiful one, my
angel who does now sleep.
You have sprouted wings and
have flown into the heavens with my heart.
I ask you to hold on tightly to it, but if you must then set it free.
So, I must say good night and blow to you a kiss.
Remembering all that has been good. Knowing my angel
will do the same.
