For Papa

By Bethany A. Jaramillo

Seeing you lay there,
Sound asleep in your drug-induced world,
Tubes and needles sticking and picking you
everywhere,
And nothing I can do to help ease the pain,
I couldn't help but wonder...
Is this my punishment?
Did I hurt someone up there so much that he can't even find away to hurt me?
Does he have to hurt you instead?
Must he make you cry?
The man who has always stood like a rock which you can not break,
If it is....
I'm sorry
Just don't take away the one man who's ever actually believed in me..
My hero....my mentor....my teacher....
My grandpa.
