Writing Is Not About Skill!

I realize there are zillions of lousy writers out there.

They can't string together coherent sentences, or they ramble, or their ideas are silly or unenlightened.

But please believe me, they can still make it. They can become GREAT authors; there's hope for them.

How can I say this, especially at a time when it seems getting published in conventional media is growing more difficult by the moment? Even if you're technically proficient, it's hard enough to break into print, don't you think?

Actually, I don't.

I believe skills don't come first. If they did, every language teacher would be a Stephen King. Undoubtedly, English teachers know more about the language, from a technical standpoint, than I do.

So, what? I am a best-selling author of 12 books, and many of them haven't written their first, let alone getting it into the hands of a major publisher that puts it into print.

Well, then, why ME?

I have the most important ingredient for becoming a writer, good or bad, published or not.

It boils down to one word: Desire!

My desire is strong, and with it, I can learn to express whatever wants to come out.

If you want to be a writer ardently enough, you'll learn, or teach yourself, the necessary skills. And when you think about it, isn't this the secret of success in almost any occupation or career?
