Many believe in their religious doctrines that man is not an animal and that he was not only created in the image of god but is a spiritual being. This means that they believe mankind is not an animal and does not belong in the animal category.
One researcher in an online think tank accused another member that their belief that man was just like any other animal, maybe a little smarter was mere opinion. The member who stated man was animal like was citing a research paper which showed a 99% similarity in DNA from Chimpanzees to man. The religious researcher told him he was wrong and that even so she respected his opinion and belief.
The think tank member comparing man to animal stated; "Spare me the academic BS with a religious flair. This is not a belief or opinion of mine. All the evidence shows what I am saying to be true. None proves otherwise. This is not philosophy. This is not religion. This is nothing of the sort.
The religious follower and researcher stated; "I could easily paste 18 pages of genetic research data which would debunk the 99% claims of from publications.”
Sure and they would be by groups funded by Religious organizations done by scientists with a religions slant. 18-pages is weak compared to the overall evidence. I have seen 400 pages of aerodynamic proof that helicopters do not fly and recently 100 pages of top research proving a Bee cannot fly with the amount of energy it puts out.
It does not matter if the DNA differences are 99, 98, 97 it is the same argument. We cannot call humans anything but animals if we indeed place Chimpanzees in the same category as animals. It is amazing the lengths at which religious doctrine gets involved in real scientific research isn't it? Consider all this in 2006.
