At the current time Mexico has a free market economy. This system mixes in modern industry and agriculture, along with outdated systems as well. The Mexican economy is becoming increasingly more dominated by the private sector every year.

Even though roughly 25% of the Mexican population lives in the country, only about 9% of the country's gross domestic product (GDP) comes from agriculturally driven businesses.

The in-bond industry in Mexico is one of the strongest economic sectors in the country. More than a half a million people hold jobs in this sector, which create an aggregate value of more than 3 billion dollars. Also, more than 2 million jobs can be directly attributed the strong presence of the in-bond industry. This industry creates many jobs in the assembling and manufacturing industries.

Tourism is also one of the driving forces behind Mexico's economy. The tourism industry is booming thanks to over 6,000 miles of beaches on the Pacific Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean. Resorts such as Cancun, Acapulco, Huatulco, and Puerto Vallarta make up the greatest tourist attractions in the country.

Mexico's economy is growing steadily, and the country is looking to pursue additional trade agreements in order to sustain this growth.

Families are struggling to get by but it is getting slightly better.
