In Auto Detailing one of the biggest expenses is the quality products you will use. But how does one gage how much product you will need? Especially waxes, sealants and polishes? And what types of products do you really need anyway?

Well you will need some Carnauba Crème Wax. I recommend the kind, which is tan in color liquid product and comes in a one-gallon container. How long will it last? Well, that depends on how you use it. For instance if you put on a coat of AutoMagic "Seal it" first then you can make it will definitely last a long time.

I recommend putting some of the carnauba crème wax into a squirt catsup bottle and cutting back the end half way because it is thick. Then use a large wax pad (cloth) and shake up some polymer solvent wax and put two dabs on the pad and then two lines of crème liquid wax to thin it out.

This will help it dry faster no matter what the humidity. This will increase the number of cars you can do before you run out of it. Then a gallon of this would do 35-40 cars. Now then a Polymer solvent, sealer combination wax that separates and removes some oxidation, but it is meant as a clear coat quick wax, will last quite along time depending on how oxidized those cars really are. So in that case 1-2 coats will last up to let's say 20-40 cars.

Revival type glazes are liquid cleaner waxes and I would advise trying to have only two types of waxes and polishes unless you are doing heavy duty detailing, if you are just doing mobile washing and waxing take it easy on all the types of products. Figure the same for the polymer solvent wax comments. If as far as ultra light compound are concerned ditch these products because you just do not need all this stuff. Keep it simple and save money by being practical. Consider this in 2006.
